Aniruddh Madhusudan, (B.E. , Mech, 2002 passout, Ettimadai) has come down to the Coimbatore campus and delivered a lecture on the topic,  – ‘Writing in a financial context’ – introduces students to the concept of writing financial reports. A few standard techniques and exercises conducted during the session.

Born and brought up in Chennai, schooled at ‘The School K.F.I’, passionately interested in wildlife and trekking, an amateur ornithologist and herpetologist.  He has been with Scope International (ALM FX back-office processing, UAT projects, Anti-Money Laundering) in the year 1998 – 2006, and currently with Irevna  (Business Plans, Equity Research Analyst).

Prof. Jay Mishra (MBA Harvard), Professor, Amrita School of Business, Director-Alumni Relations wrote:
“Having spent the early 1990's as a portfolio manager, Aniruddh’s  background is excellent for anyone entering the business arena.  Especially, as people become more senior, it is imperative to learn what he knew already.”

As Aniruddh says, “Speaking to an Amrita alumnus (Arjun Gopalakrishnan, Coordinator, Amritians Mentor) one day, I decided (as he had done) to volunteer a weekend to coaching ASB students on a subject which I am very comfortable with – writing in a financial context. I didn’t know whether this decision of mine would be welcomed by ASB, but welcomed it was, and without further ado, we booked tickets to Coimbatore for the weekend of 24/25 October.

The committee that organized this visit was very efficient, and Arjun and I were lodged at the guest house - plans were in place, classrooms readied, projectors tested, and by early afternoon, the session began. What really surprised me is that even on a weekend, the volunteers who attended the session on financial writing numbered well above thirty.

The experience was amazing. Dealing with a subject that was relatively unknown, the students responded with clear and thoughtful questions, and were able to handle the assignment (a really difficult one) with relative ease. While they presented their case studies, it was easy to visualize these students in the corporate world, successful in all their endeavors, as they clearly had the right attitude. The next day, for Arjun’s session, there was significant turnout as well, and even though that was a marathon session, no one flagged, and attention levels remained inordinately high.

The entire experience of revisiting the place that contributed to my being what I am, as well as witnessing an entire class steadfast in their thirst for knowledge and a better understanding of the world left me both humbled and happy.”.

The Coordinator of Amritians Mentors, Mr. Arjun Gopalakrishnan were also present in the workshop. He said,“We have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who are keen on sharing their knowledge and giving back to the Amrita University. We aim to provide you - the alumni of Amrita University; an opportunity to give the students a talk/workshop on topics that you specialize in.

Arjun, Coordinator, Amritians Mentors wrote:
We are currently in the process of mapping the requirements of our colleges and matching them with your skill sets. Initially we hope to start this initiative with weekend workshops which would typically last for 2 or 3 hours. The emphasis on weekend is keeping in mind your busy schedules during the week. The weekend workshops would be open to all students who are interested. Video Lecture series is another option for the people who stay abroad and for those cannot come physically to the campus.

As this is program is still at a nascent stage we are keen on hearing absolutely any suggestion/feedback from you.”
