We (11+2 people) left at 09:30 P.M from Bangalore on 4th of July’08 Friday night (We didn't have any class in July) Vidya peetha circle - Banashankari 1st stage was the first pick up point and the last point was HP electronics city office. We had arranged a 13 seater tempo traveler from HP transport. We stopped at Hosur for dinner and started the trip. The drive was full of back breaking jerks as violent speed breakers and bump which driver zoom past on Hosur road. We reached some point on the highway and stopped to celebrate Jeeju's Birthday (5th July.Jeeju Cake The early morning air was cool as we passed Top Slip. We reached the point from where Anamalai mountain range was visible. We crossed the Kerala forest check post which is the entry point to Parambikulam. By 6.30/7 AM we reached Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. Here we hired a guide. Our bad luck, the guide was hopeless and gave just one trek path which was 38 KMs long. He said officer had stopped allowing short treks. After taking the guide at the forest office he showed us a view point where we watched the panoramic view of Parambikulam dam, Udumalaipet located in the Palakkad district in the Western Ghats of Kerala. By this time we all were hungry and hence the guide took us to a small hotel. Then we went to our rooms and got ready. The dormitory for male was a basic one called tiger hall and we two girls had got a tree top room. Although the trekking was not allowed inside forest, we walked to Parambikulam dam with the guide and took some snaps. After which we proceeded to tunnel via vehicle, where we all had a taste of crab! Just kidding!! After lunch at the same hotel, we went to Kannimara teak, which is the largest teak tree in the world. We saw Elephants signs on way with tree branches were torn and laid on road; we soon saw a herd of 3-4 inside thick forest while return and we stopped the vehicle and got down for taking snaps, near teak tree. We did see a lot of wild life like spotted deer, gaur, wild boar, langur and peacock. Then we returned to hotel for dinner and signed off for the day. On 6th July, we decided to go to top slip and look for better guide. Unfortunately, no guides were available and one was supposed to come back at 10.30. After breakfast we saw the museum at top slip and left to Monkey falls as we didn't want to wait. Monkey falls as name suggests had lots of monkeys with less water in the falls during season. Luckily we found a small falls down the monkey falls and some of them took bath. On the way back, we stopped at Alaiyar dam, where many had fish fry and coconut water, by this time we were tired of seeing nothing! We reached sakthi hotel at pollachi for lunch and had a good Veg/Non Veg lunch. After this time, we started thinking of Monday morning meetings, work etc. It was then time to head back. The Anamalai hills started to fade away in the background as we moved away Pollachi. We reached Bangalore at 11 Am on 6th July.
